Italia

Italy has distracted us from blogging. First we spent 5 days in Rome where, in addition to visiting all the amazing tourist sights of Fountana De Trevi, the Vatican(including the Sistine chapel), Colesseum and St Peters Bassilica, we indulged in Piazza hopping enioying a glass of wine at many of the bars and restaurants along the way. Just wandering through Rome is amazing, all the cobblestone streets lead you to your next adventure, one night just walking around we found an open air full orchestra performance.

Next, we headed to Naples and Amalfi coast where the sea is so clear and so blue. We relaxed here for a few days admiring the sights, eating thebest most delicious bruscette of our lives and having so much fun. Took a boat trip around the Isle of CaprI and stopped for a swim in a cave which was fun, got a bit sunburned (ops).

We are in Florence now and we are heading to a little B&B in the Tuscan hills today for a few nights, where I’m sure we will enjoy more delicious Italian food and definately more local wine and celebrate Darren’s birthday.

Love you x

Driving on the “right” side of the road and the left side of the car

After Paris we hired a car and drove to the South of France, we enjoyed the countryside and beautiful scenery, and stopping off in some towns along the way. We spent two days sitting on the beach (pepples not sand) in Nice, swimming in the Medditerranean Sea and sipping back cocktails. We joined in on the locals celebrations on Bastille Day on 14 July and watched an incredible fireworks display from the beachfront. We realised on our road trip that we weren’t even quite halfway through our trip, yay! Next stop, Italy!

Bonjour, Bienvenue a Paris.

Paris is an amazing city, we love it here. Today was one of our favorites so far, we sat on the grass in front of the Eiffel Tower for about four and a half hours drinking champagne and beer and eating bread and pain au chocolat. Then tonight we did a night bike tour of Paris which was so much fun, the city of love became the city of lights when the sun went down which is beautiful, we saw the eiffel tower sparkling and came home full of wine.  Paris has treated us with the Moulin Rouge last night, lunch and macaroons at Laudree on the Champs Elysees yesterday, the Lourve on Thursday and the Arc De Triomphe on Wednesday. We could actually live off the bread and wine alone, but have found some delicious meals including a creme brûlée here and a chocolate eclair there. Our little studio in Montmartre has been great, we’ll definately use AirBnb again.

Busy Busy London

Wow, London it certainly keeping us busy. We checked out Tate Modern and spent hours staring at amazing Art from the likes of Picasso, Tasner and Pollock. (photos) We stumbled onto St Paul’s Cathedral which is so huge, we popped inside and experienced the service under the big dome the choir sounded wicked. The detail in that building is superb, no wonder the royals get married there.

Yesterday we went to Notting Hill and the Portobello Rd markets(3km long!!!), which was so busy and the atmosphere was great. Had a famouse crepe, oh my yummmmm! Stopped on Bond St and Oxford St and got lost in Victoria’s Secret while Darren had a beer. We passed out in a minute flat when we got back to the hotel. (mini casino inside our hotel)

Off to the British museum now, should be good.

London Town

We explored the sights of London, London and Tower Bridges, Buckingham Palace (spotted Prince Charles in a car escorted by 10 police cars), so far the House of Parliment and Big Ben have been our favourite building, the detail is ridiculous, so beautiful.

We took a ride through Hyde Park and had a picnic lunch by a pond near Kensington Palace. Hyde Park is so busy, lots of people out enjoying the sunshine.

We’re getting around on the big red buses and the Underground, these get you everywhere you want to go.

We did a bit of shopping yesterday and stumbled across a great little restaurant in Soho for a shared dinner of Indian inspired dishes. Yummo.

I think we are just about over the jet lag today 🙂

Up Up and Away

Etihad are great to fly with, all inclusive they don’t miss a thing. We were happy with our flight experience, Australia is a long way from London but the little comforts of blankets and pillows, a long list of movies and food almost you could forget was airplane food. Then came the Business Class upgrade …. Wow! “Champange Miss?” “Yes please!” Darren kicked back with a Johnny Black, we enjoyed a massage, watched a movie and we got some serious zzzzz’s in our horizontal seats (beds). Great way to end the long haul to Heathrow. We’re here x
